In this episode we are going to talk about the challenges small business owners face when recruiting in 2020.
Hi I’m Jeff Zinser and I own Right Recruiting. In this video, I’d like to address business owners. You own a small business and there is good news that we have for you and there is bad news that we have for you, then we are going to have more good news for you.
The good news of course is that your business is doing well. It’s growing. The economy is great and you’re expanding. That’s good. The bad news is you’re doing that in the tightest labor market in the last 50 years. Which means as your business grows, you need to expand. You need to hire people. You need to bring on talent. You need to professionalize functions and you are doing it against a headwind.
When it’s a tight labor market people are hard to find. Most business owners when placed in that situation think they have 2 options.
The first option is to go to some corporate executive search firm. The same company that services the Fortune 500. Maybe they can help you. Then you find out that they are not really interested in helping you. And if they are interested in helping you, they want a six-figure check.
Your second option is to advertise. And I think by now most of you have realized that is not a productive venue for you. Ad response is poor. The quality is not good. The quantity is not good. It’s not an effective and predictable tool.
